Curriculum Overview

The programs curriculum follows a professional work-force model, with students assembling teams that are tasked with meeting learning goals both in the classroom and in their laboratory fundamentals course. This approach is meant to enhance interdisciplinary learning and fill-in background knowledge following a project-based approach.

In addition to a biotechnology laboratory course in the first year, the programs required courses (see Course Descriptions) cover a range of topics, including elective courses in various sub-disciplines.

The program curriculum also promotes critical thinking through various opportunities including promotion of student attendance at journal clubs throughout the program and by having them undertake an independent research project in at least one area of biotechnology.
